Matthews House Hospice is a non-profit charity, providing hospice and community services to the people of New Tecumseth and surrounding areas supporting living life fully and dying with dignity. We walk together with families and community members through the journey of illness and grief offering a variety of day programs, counselling, and palliative care. We believe everyone should have access to the right palliative and bereavement care when and where they need it.
We are looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic student to join our team. This position is a full-time
(temporary) role supporting the Communications and Events teams to meet their objectives in raising funds and awareness for Matthews House Hospice. The successful candidate’s primary focus will be digital marketing and event support.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assisting in the design and development of both digital and print media for release across multiple platforms
- Administration of social media accounts
- Assist in the maintenance of organizational webpage
- Assist in the design, promotion, coordination and evaluation of special events
- Administration functions associated with special events including donor relations, volunteer management, public relations, customer service and risk management
- Participation in organizational events
- Other duties that contribute to the success of the Donor Experience and Communications team
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Currently enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution with a focus in events, communications, marketing, not-for-profit or a related program
- Meet the requirements of the Canada Summer Jobs Program
- Access to reliable transportation to Matthews House Hospice and other sites as required
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Proficiency with social media platforms and scheduling tools (Hootsuite)
- Experience with design software (Canva)
- Previous event related experience
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable in communicating with a variety of stakeholders
- Great organizational skills and time management
- Experience working in a non-profit, volunteer-driven environment
- Well-developed people skills and sense of fun
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Position is on-site, primarily at Matthews House Hospice in Alliston
- Some lifting and event related set-up required
- Variety of work day tasks, evolving priorities
- Weekend and evening availability is required
